Some of the shots we tried out included:
- MLS that could be used as a planning or establishing shot
- Tracking shot
- Stop Motion
- High angle shot
- Low angle shot
- Close up
- Footage to manipulate in editing
We did most of our filming in outside locations as Florence + the machine's videos are mainly set outside and this is a characteristic of her videos that we are also going to use. Through experimenting with the various different shots we have determined some shots that would work in our video and others that wouldn't.
One skill we have improved on by doing this reccie is experimenting with angles. On our previous reccie for our AS project, we only took photos of locations which did not enable us to test how the location would look in different angles. On our Brighton reccie, through we were be able to experiment with shots and to see which shot gave the best effect in the location we were in. On our next reccie for our music video, we will use this skill that we have improved so that we can make the locations appear more interesting than they would in a photo.
Another thing we have learnt by doing a practice reccie in Brighton is time management. We organised our time much better doing this reccie than we have done previously and as a result managed to film more shots. One thing we didn't account for is the amount of time that a stop motion takes. This is something we need to consider if we choose to include stop motion as this will take a lot more time than normal filming.
After group discussions we have decided not to use Brighton as a location for our music video because it doesn't fit in with our initial ideas.
