ERT- Responding to a track

1- Link to our track

In a post bellow.

2- What genre is the track and how can you tell?

I think the genre of the track is indie rock. I would say it is indie because of the relaxed nature of her voice as well as the way the videos are performed. The first few videos created by the band are very low budget as they are set in out door areas such as woods with costumes that are more fancy dress than designer.

3- Do you think this represent a high or low fi video and why?

I think it has aspects of both. High fi because its a fast pace and from watching her other videos we can see that they are very magical and full of glitter and costumes. However, low fi because they are all still quite basic. They dont include the latest gradet, big modern houses or like many other videos have a strict storyline to follow.

4- What other videos are comparable?

Feist- Mushaboom

Florence and the machiene- Dog days

The bird and the bee - Love letter to Japan

5- And what budget are they?

No specific budgets for any of the videos were available, however they did all comment on being low budget. This clearly fitting in with our perception of the song as well as it being to our advantage as we obviously can not use a high budget.

6- Give an outline of the treatment?

We are seriously considering the theme of halloween for the video, as the song lyrics include coffins etc we think it will tie in well. Although we havn't yet out together the ideas we do have certain shots that we would like to include. For example a XCU of her feet as she walks through a graveyard, a LS of her singing and spinning in the woods covering in flags and glitter (inspired by her previous videos), XCU of her eyes as it is very typical of her to include crazy makeup with CU of the detail and also keeping the spooky gothic theme going through out.

7- What are some suitable locations?

Locations I see as appropriate are open areas such as graveyards and fields. Also their is a drama studio available to us at TWGGS which I think would be a mistake for us not to include. It would be the perfect place for us to do some shots performance based, for example using the stage lighting available to us in there.

8- What characters are appropriate?

I think we are definately in need of one strong female, to play Florence. In all of her videos she sings along and creates a very strong character, however other random characters are included which do not necessarily have a storyline. For example in her first video of "the dog days" she is the main character in which is in the majority of shots and we follow, however their are other people in the video to add atmosphere and give off a better effect.

9- What special effects would be suitable?

I think if we decide to go ahead with the theme of gothic and halloween, we would definately need to include sepia or black and white tones to the video.

10- Who else would you need to "employ" to help you with this
Apart from our main character, in which we have already found, I think we could manage. However, I think if we could either find a boy character, which we found popular from our audience research, or "backgorund characters" like in the dog days video then we will need more support characters.
